FADE IN:
EXT. DEBT
NOIR - NIGHT
Rain soaked alleyways, glistening
hyper-colored neon reflections... Mess with money men, pay a
price. Lay claim to control the Fates, burn a path of
Karma. Pay a deeper price. Time to see a few old friends
and take a swim in the lake with some concrete shoes.
LACY
NOYES,
confidently seductive yet charmingly clumsy, struts into the
smoke-filled room. She steps up to the vintage microphone, but
it's not plugged in.
LACY NOYES
An incessantly skipping beat
lures
the ponderous pining piano. Laced
with the cheap promises of a pawn
shop bass, the plot thickens.
A final crescendo emerges with an
escalating cliché, leaving only the lingering memory of a spark,
intermittently buried and dug up by a doppelganger of sorts. The
final piano trips itself up in imperfect measures and missteps, but
that shouldn't be an excuse...
LACY NOYES (CONT'D)
I just always sort of liked
it that
way.
EXT. IN
THE PINES
- LATER
Ambient version of the haunting
classic folk song of an unfaithful lover, sculpted in silicon and
slicing valleys of reverb. Stolen Midi, broken heart, lost love,
absinthe - putting the pieces together before and after the incident in
the company of all parties involved.
The thief reaps his reward.
THIEF
This is my ambient version
of the
traditional folk song "In the Pines"
which has been covered by many artists
over the years. I found a Midi
interpretation of Nirvana's "Where
Did You Sleep Last Night" and then
sampled it and sound-sculpted it in
an attempt to create a moving piece
of the folk song from purely
electronic means start to finish.
CREATURE OF
CIRCUMSTANCE enters, surrounded by an aura of
mnemonic torturers. The abyss stares back...
INT. FRAYED
- THAT MOMENT
Words remembered, distorted, as
they often are.
INT. RESURRECTING
LUNA - AFTERNOON
Theme music for an epic
science-fiction love story with haunting consequences for those
involved.
EXT. MIDNIGHT
BLOOM - NIGHT
Night friends in flora emerge
saturated beneath the glow of a full moon. The thick foggy
atmosphere that sneaks in is foreboding and alluring at the same time.
INT. PALACE OF THE
SNOW QUEEN - DAWN
Soundtrack for a fairy tale
reading. Brave young souls enter a world of ice castles and
broken mirrors. The tingling sound of snowflakes and pieces of
glass intermingle. The Snow Queen lurks somewhere within her
frozen lair, lying in wait...
INT. HOPEFUL
ENDING
- PRESENT
A slow lingering fade out into
darkness with a soft glow in the distance signaling the promise of hope.
SUNNY
FROST
walks in from the cold clutch of winter mist.
SUNNY FROST
The sweetness that lies deep
down
beneath the snow was an echo from
the past once heard between
skyscrapers and mountains.
Like everything that's special, its
return is always welcome.
BACK TO MIDNIGHT
BLOOM (EXTENDED) - THAT NIGHT
Spirits walk through mirrors and
pass by on infrasonic waves.
INT. FOUND
&
LOST MESSAGE - FLASHBACK
An old recording plays a message
from the past into the future. Memories captured with a light gun
are illuminated on cracking walls.
EXT. SPARROWS ON
WINTHROP - DUSK
Chirping birds swoop and circle en
masse, waiting for the right moment to dive into an open chimney of the
nearby high rise.
FADE TO BLACK.
